 For people who have a commercial drivers license the consequences of being arrested for a DUI can be severe if convicted.  Vehicle Code section 15300 provides that a driver of a commercial vehicle loses his commercial driver's license for 1 year when convicted of the enumerated offenses including a standard first time DUI.

The obvious way to get around the 1 year suspension is to go to trial and win.  However, a second less obvious way to get around the 1 year suspension is to settle the case for what is called a wet Reckless which is found in vehicle code  23103.5. 

Challenging the scientific issues in the case may get a prosecutor to agree to reduce your charge to a wet reckless.  This reduced charge may save you license, your job, and consequently the life you currently live.
